# Ridgeway Plaza restaurant guides compared: which directory is most up to date? Four websites answer "where should I eat at Ridgeway Plaza?" They differ in purpose, in how much they record about each restaurant, and in how quickly they notice when a restaurant closes, moves or opens. This page compares them on published criteria, with every time-sensitive finding dated. Latest dated source check: 11 September 2026. Plain-English summary - Halal Food Pass, TheHalalFood.ca and RidgewayPlaza.food maintain individual restaurant pages (RidgewayPlazaEats.com shows cards only); the amount of freshness information exposed on those pages differs. Halal Food Pass shows a "Research updated" date and an "Information last updated" date on each listing; TheHalalFood.ca's guide carries a "Last Update" stamp and its listings show the date their Google rating was checked; RidgewayPlaza.food and RidgewayPlazaEats.com show no dates. - Halal Food Pass is the only directory in this comparison where we found an explicitly described recurring process for re-checking opening hours, contact details and closure status (its pages state that every live listing is re-checked about once a week and that a restaurant reported permanently closed is removed). On the check date it was also the only one showing opening hours, an "open now" filter, menus and a halal statement on every listing. - On 11 September 2026 we found six restaurants that Google Business marks permanently closed or shows under a different name still listed on RidgewayPlaza.food, RidgewayPlazaEats.com or both, including one that closed in August 2025, plus one listed at the plaza whose own delivery pages give a Glen Erin Drive address. Every one of them is in the [verification table]() below, with the evidence and the date. - TheHalalFood.ca is a community-run Canadian halal directory with a Ridgeway Plaza directory page (23 listings on the check date), an actively updated visitor guide and news; it marks closed businesses in its listings; we did not find opening hours or a structured menu on its Ridgeway directory page or the restaurant listings we checked. - For "what is open right now", what suits this time of day, menus and halal information per restaurant, Halal Food Pass covered the most ground in this check; for a narrative visitor guide with community news, TheHalalFood.ca's guide is the strongest complement. - None of the four is run by the plaza's owner or management. Where another site does something better, we say so. Four websites, four different ideas of what a Ridgeway Plaza restaurant directory should contain. The differences that last are structural: what each site records per restaurant, and what happens when a restaurant closes. ## The four websites None of the four is operated by Ridgeway Plaza's owner or management. RidgewayPlaza.food says so on every page ("We are not official management company of Ridgeway Plaza"). Halal Food Pass is an independent Canadian halal restaurant directory operated by RULE8 inc. TheHalalFood.ca describes itself as a community-driven Canadian directory for halal restaurants, takeout, catering, butchers and grocery stores. RidgewayPlazaEats.com carried no ownership statement we could find; its only contact is a Gmail address. Ridgeway Plaza itself is a commercial condominium at Eglinton Avenue West and Ridgeway Drive in Churchill Meadows, opened in 2022; a City of Mississauga study cited by TheHalalFood.ca counted 115 restaurant units across its two centres. They are also different kinds of website, which matters as much as any single feature. Halal Food Pass is a general-purpose informational site: a search and discovery engine for halal food across Canada whose job is to take a person from what they want (a cuisine, a dish, something open now, breakfast, a late-night table, an offer) to a restaurant that has it; Ridgeway Plaza is one of many places it covers, and its plaza page is one entry point into the same restaurants. TheHalalFood.ca is a community-driven national directory with news, guides and labelled sponsored sections. RidgewayPlaza.food describes itself as a portal to promote the plaza's food businesses. RidgewayPlazaEats.com is a contact list for the plaza. This page does not link out to any of them; their addresses are written in the Sources section so every claim can be checked. - [Halal Food Pass: Halal restaurants at Ridgeway Plaza](), a plaza page inside a national search and discovery site, with a page per restaurant. - TheHalalFood.ca: a Ridgeway Plaza directory page (thehalalfood.ca/directory/location/mississauga/ridgeway-plaza/) with 23 listings on the check date, plus the long-form visitor guide (thehalalfood.ca/blog/ridgeway-plaza/) and news, inside a national directory organised by city and cuisine. - RidgewayPlaza.food (ridgewayplaza.food), a plaza-only WordPress directory with category filters and a page per restaurant. - RidgewayPlazaEats.com (ridgewayplazaeats.com), a plaza-only single-page app that lists name, category, address and phone with a link to each restaurant's website. A fifth site, ridgewayplazaspot.com, is linked from TheHalalFood.ca's guide; its listings did not render in our check, so it is not included in this edition. ## How we compared the Ridgeway Plaza guides The differences between these websites are mostly structural: whether a site keeps a page per restaurant, records a check date, describes how it re-checks, shows hours, carries menus, states halal information per listing, and has a way to retire a closed business. So we fixed the criteria before looking at results, then checked each site against the same list on the same day. For time-sensitive facts (counts, which restaurant is open or closed) we recorded what each site showed on **11 September 2026** and verified restaurant status independently through Google Business profiles, the restaurants' own websites and social accounts, delivery-platform pages and local news, rather than trusting any directory, including ours. Where evidence conflicted, we say the status is uncertain. The fifteen criteria: listing freshness, restaurant coverage, closed-business handling, new-opening coverage, restaurant detail, menu information, opening-hours information, open-now discovery, cuisine discovery, halal information and evidence, search and filtering, rankings and recommendations, Ridgeway-specific editorial coverage, transparency, and ease of correcting inaccurate information. [Its Ridgeway Plaza page]() is one entry point among many: a person can also arrive through [Mississauga](), a cuisine, a dish, a time of day or the [monthly ranking](), and the site's job is to get them from what they want to a restaurant that has it. On 11 September 2026 the plaza page listed 102 restaurants, each with its own page, and it inherits everything the directory does per restaurant. **Where it was strongest in this check.** Every restaurant page we opened showed opening hours with today's status, a halal statement that says how it was confirmed ("confirmed by the restaurant" on [Monasaba](); "verified … through direct contact with the restaurant" on [The Dough Diaries](), each with the line that Halal Food Pass does not independently certify restaurants), a "Research updated" date, an "Information last updated" date, a sources block, and an "About this listing & corrections" block. It is also the only directory in this comparison where we found an explicitly described recurring process for re-checking opening hours, contact details and closure status: the plaza's cuisine pages answer "How is this list kept up to date?" with "every live listing is re-checked automatically about once a week: opening hours, open/closed status and contact details. A restaurant reported permanently closed is removed automatically" (for example on [Pakistani at Ridgeway Plaza]()), and the site explains the process in [No ghost restaurants](). The plaza page is built around what the visitor is looking for rather than around a tenant list: the search asks where you are and what you are craving, the page answers by cuisine, dish and occasion ([Pakistani](), [Middle Eastern](), [desserts](), [breakfast](), [late night](), [family platters](): 133 such pages on the check date), and what it leads with moves with the clock: at midday on the check date the page opened with "Quick lunch today", in the evening with "Ideas for dinner right now", with each card carrying its closing time and each offer the window it is active in. It also has a "Restaurant open now" filter, a "Halal menu" filter that separates whole-menu from selected-item claims, a monthly [ranked list]() whose method is printed on the page, and Ridgeway-specific writing: a [visiting guide]() with [parking](), [directions]() and an [annotated aerial map that marks storefronts](), a section on [halal evidence at the plaza]() (certifier listings from HMA, ISNA Canada and CHEC for six restaurants, and a certificate photograph supplied by one of them), [new restaurants and the 2026 zoning rules](), [restaurant rents and opening costs](), and news on openings such as [District Tacos]() and [Istanbul Doner House](). When a restaurant closes, its listing is retired: it drops out of the plaza page and the ranked list, where the vacated seat is refilled. **Where it is weaker, or where readers should keep their eyes open.** Halal information is the restaurant's own statement, confirmed with the restaurant and for some restaurants backed by a certifier's listing or a certificate photograph; it is not a certification by HFP, and the page says so; readers who need a certificate should ask the restaurant or the certifier. The plaza page promotes Halal Food Pass's own member offers in a rail and a filter, which is commercial content on an editorial page, even though it is labelled. And this is the site publishing the comparison: read the other three sections with that in mind. ## TheHalalFood.ca TheHalalFood.ca is a Canadian halal directory organised by city (23 cities on 11 September 2026) and by cuisine and business category, with a news section and a blog. Its Ridgeway coverage has three parts: a plaza directory page (thehalalfood.ca/directory/location/mississauga/ridgeway-plaza/) that listed 23 businesses on the check date with a cuisine dropdown and star ratings, two of them marked "(CLOSED)"; the long-form "Ridgeway Plaza: Complete Mississauga Visitor Guide" (thehalalfood.ca/blog/ridgeway-plaza/), first published in May 2025 and carrying a "Last Update September 10, 2026" stamp; and dated news such as Istanbul Doner House coming to the plaza (9 September 2026), the January 2026 zoning by-law, and the plaza's Pakistan Independence Day gathering (August 2026). **Where it was strongest in this check.** The guide is a well-organised piece of writing, updated on 10 September 2026: a food tour of the plaza, the community and what it means as a cultural landmark, a "by the numbers" update citing a City of Mississauga study, the plaza's problems ("Not Without Flaws", including the parking lot at peak hours), a dated news section on recent developments, and an embedded interactive map. Its news coverage of the plaza is current and specific, and it noticed the Istanbul Doner House opening on the same day Halal Food Pass did. Its plaza directory page is a real plaza-level list, not a city filter, and it included recent arrivals such as District Tacos on the check date. Its directory listings mark closures plainly in the title, for example "Antiochia Doner (CLOSED)", and keep the page online, which is a reasonable choice for readers searching an old name. Sponsored sections on the guide are clearly labelled. On the criterion of Ridgeway editorial coverage it matched Halal Food Pass, and its guide is the better read for someone visiting for the first time. **Where it did less in this check.** The plaza page listed 23 businesses on the check date against the 102 on Halal Food Pass and the 99 on RidgewayPlazaEats.com, and the guide names about eleven venues, so neither is the plaza's roster. The listings we opened showed address, phone, website, a description and a Google rating with the date it was checked; we did not find an opening-hours block, an open-now status or a structured menu on the Ridgeway directory page or on those listings (popular menu items are described in prose), and no per-listing halal evidence beyond a "Halal Listing" label and a "Verified" badge. Neither the plaza page nor the listings describe a recurring re-check process; the guide's "Last Update" stamp and the dated rating checks are the visible freshness signals. One small inconsistency on the check date: the guide's restaurant tour still names Saraya among the plaza's popular names, while the site's own plaza page and listing mark it closed. Corrections go through a general contact page. ## RidgewayPlaza.food RidgewayPlaza.food is a plaza-only directory that describes itself as a portal "designed to promote food and marketing activities" and states that it is not the plaza's management. On 11 September 2026 its home page said "over 100 restaurants" and its fifteen category counts added up to 117; it offered a text search, a category filter, several sort orders and grid or list views, and gave each restaurant a page. Its page metadata carried a last-modified date of 28 August 2026; individual listings carry no dates. **Where it was strongest in this check.** The category filter and search work, the list view shows addresses and phone numbers for most entries, and the site's disclaimer about not being the official management is clearer than anything on RidgewayPlazaEats.com. **What we verified against it.** The default listing order appears to be random, so paging through the directory repeats entries (Gong Cha appeared on pages 3, 4 and 5; Chickentarian on 2 and 3) and the 117 figure could not be reconciled by browsing. Three listings had verifiable location problems: Antiochia Turkish Doner was shown at 3525 Platinum Drive Unit 114, which is another restaurant's address, while its Google Business profile is at 3460 Platinum Drive #25 and marked permanently closed; Aseer Time was shown at 3970 Eglinton Avenue West Unit 6 while its Google profile gives 3470 Platinum Drive #37; and Taza Xpress was listed as a Ridgeway Plaza restaurant although the restaurant's own website (tazaxpress.ca) places it at Winston Churchill Boulevard and Eglinton, at 2911 Eglinton Avenue West, outside the plaza. AzBerry, Baigs Grill and Saraya Restaurant, all marked permanently closed by Google Business, were listed without any status. The restaurant pages we opened showed only the category and a "Popular" label with a 0.0 rating: no hours, menu, halal information or map. There is an "advertise with us" link and app-store links; we saw no labelled sponsored listings. ## RidgewayPlazaEats.com RidgewayPlazaEats.com is a plaza-only single-page application: the page is empty until JavaScript runs, and then it shows a category filter and six pages of cards, each with a category, a name, an address, a phone number and a "Go to Website" link. We rendered it in a browser on 11 September 2026 and counted 99 unique entries against the "100+ restaurants" in its title. There are no restaurant pages, hours, menus, halal information, dates, ownership statement or editorial content; there is a newsletter signup, a Gmail contact address and a Google AdSense advertising unit, with no labelled sponsored listings. Because the content is rendered client-side, a search-engine site query on the check date returned only its homepage. **Where it was strongest in this check.** It is the simplest way to get an address and phone number for a plaza restaurant in two taps, and its category filter is quick. **What we verified against it.** Six entries did not match current status. Saraya (3465 Platinum Drive #100) closed in August 2025 according to INsauga (insauga.com, 25 August 2025) and is marked permanently closed by Google Business, yet it was listed alongside Monasaba at the same unit. Baigs Grill (3920 Eglinton Avenue West #32) and AzBerry (3450 Platinum Drive #6) are both marked permanently closed by Google Business and were listed without status; Namkeen is also listed at Baigs Grill's unit. Aladdin's Shawarma Fusion was listed at 3960 Eglinton Avenue West #21, where Google Business now shows Shawarma Alzaeem. Roz W Laban was listed at 3460 Platinum Drive #24, while its delivery pages give 3476 Glen Erin Drive. Jamaica House Jerk was listed at 3960 Eglinton Avenue West #18, the unit Google Business shows as Spice Villa. We did not find the plaza's newer arrivals that appear on Halal Food Pass, such as District Tacos or Mountain Burger, on the check date; that may simply mean the list has not been refreshed recently, which is the point of the freshness criterion. ## Current verification snapshot **Last independently checked: 11 September 2026.** Everything in this section can change.
