**Status: Varies by location**

At least one Canadian Dave's Hot Chicken location says its tenders and sliders are made from halal-certified chicken, but the chain has published no national position and names no certifier. On 4 August 2026 the company's own page for its Calgary East Hills restaurant described the tenders and sliders as halal-certified, while every Canada-wide page we read was silent. Treat this as location-by-location until Dave's Hot Chicken Canada says otherwise.

_Halal practice can differ between restaurants of the same chain, and suppliers change. Always confirm with the specific restaurant before you order._

## What Dave's Hot Chicken Canada says

- **Dave's Hot Chicken** (one location only), retrieved 2026-08-04 — "Made from Halal-certified chicken, they pack a delicious crunch" — The company's page for its Calgary East Hills location describes the tenders and the sliders as halal-certified. It names no certifier and says nothing about other Canadian restaurants. The wording covers tenders and sliders only — not bites, fries, shakes or the cauliflower items.

## How we checked

We read the Canadian homepage, menu, story, contact and locations pages, the corporate international locations page, and individual Canadian location pages. We checked the registers of the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) Canada and Halal Montreal Certification Authority; the chain appears on neither.

Eleven Canadian location pages silently redirected to the American locator instead of loading, so we cannot tell whether the Calgary wording is repeated at other Canadian restaurants — including the ones nearest our coverage area. The Canadian locations map did not render. The chain's American locator says its restaurants serve halal chicken, but that is an American statement and forms no part of our answer. Watch for a trap when checking yourself: the address "Ontario" on the company's American locator is Ontario, California.

A written enquiry to Dave's Hot Chicken Canada is drafted and pending. Their answer will replace the section above.

## Common questions

**Is Dave's Hot Chicken halal in Canada?**

It depends on the restaurant, as far as we can tell. One Canadian location's own page says its tenders and sliders are halal-certified. The chain has made no Canada-wide statement, so we cannot tell you it applies everywhere.

**Which certifier certifies it?**

None is named. The wording "halal-certified" appears without a certifying body, and Dave's Hot Chicken does not appear on the Canadian certifier registers we checked. We have asked the company to name the certifier.

**Does it cover the whole menu?**

No. Where the halal wording appears, it covers tenders and sliders. Bites, fries, shakes and the cauliflower items are not addressed.

## How we decide what to publish

We publish what a chain says about itself, what a named halal certifier says about it, or what a specific restaurant says — and we say which. We do not publish community consensus, other directories' listings, or our own impressions. Where a chain says its food is not halal certified, that is what we print: certification is a paid third-party audit, and its absence is not a statement about slaughter method. Halal Food Pass reports halal information; it does not certify halal.
