**Status: Unclear, no public statement**

Mary Brown's has not published a halal position. Its own website search returns no results at all for "halal" — while the same search returns twenty results for "chicken" — and it does not appear on the Canadian certifier register we could read.

_Halal practice can differ between restaurants of the same chain, and suppliers change. Always confirm with the specific restaurant before you order._

## How we checked

We read Mary Brown's homepage, about, menu, FAQ, contact, franchising and connect pages plus its allergen and nutrition documents, and queried the site's own search index for halal against a control term. We checked the registers of the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) Canada and the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America.

Every individual restaurant page failed to load for us, including the Oakville one, so location-level evidence was never testable — and for a heavily franchised chicken chain that is where halal claims would most plausibly appear. The ISNA Canada register would not open. Note also that "Canada Grade A" on the site is a poultry grading standard and says nothing about slaughter method.

A written enquiry to Mary Brown's Chicken is drafted and pending. Their answer will replace the section above.

## Common questions

**Is Mary Brown's halal?**

Mary Brown's has not said. Its own site search returns nothing for "halal".

**Could an individual restaurant be halal?**

Possibly, we could not open a single restaurant page to check. If you know of one, tell us and we will record it.

## How we decide what to publish

We publish what a chain says about itself, what a named halal certifier says about it, or what a specific restaurant says — and we say which. We do not publish community consensus, other directories' listings, or our own impressions. Where a chain says its food is not halal certified, that is what we print: certification is a paid third-party audit, and its absence is not a statement about slaughter method. Halal Food Pass reports halal information; it does not certify halal.
