**Status: Unclear, no public statement**

We could not read Tim Hortons' Canadian website, so we cannot report what it says about halal. On 4 August 2026 timhortons.ca returned an application shell for every page we tried, including a deliberately invented address, which tells us the site serves the same shell regardless. Its parent company's sourcing and food-safety material never mentions halal.

_Halal practice can differ between restaurants of the same chain, and suppliers change. Always confirm with the specific restaurant before you order._

## What Tim Hortons says

- **Restaurant Brands International**, retrieved 2026-08-04 — Tim Hortons' parent company names the assurance schemes it requires of suppliers — none of them is a halal standard, and halal is not mentioned.

- **Restaurant Brands International**, retrieved 2026-08-04 — The responsible-sourcing material describes supplier requirements without reference to halal.

## How we checked

We attempted timhortons.ca's nutrition, FAQ, contact, robots and sitemap files, and read Restaurant Brands International's ingredients, food-safety, responsible-sourcing and contact pages plus its 2025 responsibility report in full.

Tim Hortons' Canadian website is entirely closed to our tools, so we cannot even establish which pages exist, let alone what they say. Our parent-company finding is real but it is corporate sustainability material, not an answer about chicken, bacon or the gelatin in doughnuts and Timbits — which is what most people are actually asking about. That question is unanswered.

A written enquiry to Tim Hortons is drafted and pending. Their answer will replace the section above.

## Common questions

**Is Tim Hortons halal?**

We do not know. Tim Hortons' Canadian website would not load for our checks, and its parent company's sourcing material does not mention halal.

**What about gelatin in the doughnuts or Timbits?**

That is the question most people are really asking, and we could not answer it. The ingredient information lives on the Tim Hortons site we could not read. We have asked directly.

## How we decide what to publish

We publish what a chain says about itself, what a named halal certifier says about it, or what a specific restaurant says — and we say which. We do not publish community consensus, other directories' listings, or our own impressions. Where a chain says its food is not halal certified, that is what we print: certification is a paid third-party audit, and its absence is not a statement about slaughter method. Halal Food Pass reports halal information; it does not certify halal.
