Crave Halal Fest is coming to Surrey Civic Plaza on September 5 and 6, 2026, bringing halal food, shopping, entertainment and family activities to Surrey City Centre.
Admission is free, and the City of Surrey says the two-day event is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across the Lower Mainland.
For halal food lovers in British Columbia, it will be an opportunity to try different halal food vendors in one place while also exploring local businesses and community organizations.
Crave Halal Fest takes place on:
The event will be held at Surrey Civic Plaza, 13450 104 Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia.
Surrey Civic Plaza is in Surrey City Centre and is easily accessible by public transit, including nearby SkyTrain service.
Food is one of the main attractions at Crave Halal Fest.
Organizers are promoting a mix of halal food including:
The announced food lineup includes businesses such as BRB Smokehouse, Abu's Kitchen, Karavan Meats, Roasted Revolution, Swahili Smoke, Chapli Kebab House, Karvan Foods Market, Paratha Burger and Cheese Slap.
The vendor lineup may change or grow before the festival, so visitors looking for a particular vendor should check the latest official event information before travelling.
Anyone with specific halal certification or preparation requirements should also ask individual vendors directly about their meat sourcing and certification.
Crave Halal Fest is also being promoted as a wider community festival.
Visitors can expect:
Organizers also say a designated prayer space will be available at the festival.
Surrey is developing into one of British Columbia's most important halal dining markets.
Halal diners can now find Pakistani, Indian, Middle Eastern, Afghan, Turkish, burgers, fried chicken, shawarma and many other cuisines across the city.
You can browse halal restaurants in Surrey on Halal Food Pass or explore halal food across British Columbia.
The wider Metro Vancouver halal food market is also expanding across Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and surrounding cities.
Crave Halal Fest is another sign that halal food is becoming an increasingly visible part of British Columbia's wider food scene.
Large halal food festivals have traditionally been particularly visible in Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area.
But Canada's halal food market is becoming much more national.
Halal restaurants, new food concepts and Muslim-focused community events are increasingly appearing across British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, Atlantic Canada and other parts of the country.
A large halal-focused festival taking place at one of Surrey's most prominent public spaces shows how quickly that market is developing outside Ontario.
For diners, one of the advantages of a festival like Crave Halal Fest is the opportunity to discover several businesses without travelling across Metro Vancouver.
Visitors can try different cuisines and food concepts during the festival and then continue exploring Surrey's growing restaurant scene afterwards.
Halal Food Pass now lists halal restaurants across Surrey and other British Columbia cities, making it easier to discover restaurants by location and cuisine.
