Arbequina is a fully halal, alcohol-free fine-dining restaurant serving modern Arabic and Levantine cuisine in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood. Created by Palestinian-Jordanian chef Moeen Abuzaid and his wife, the restaurant combines traditional Middle Eastern flavours with contemporary culinary techniques and seasonal Canadian ingredients. The evolving menu has featured house-made taboon bread with muhammara, meat-filled manti served over jameed yogurt, potato and squash falafel, eggplant ganoush with crispy lentils, sea bass wrapped in grilled grape leaves, brined lamb chops and Angus short ribs served with saj flatbread. Desserts may include sticky date sukka with cinnamon ice cream, pistachio milk cake, booza and qatayef. Arbequina sources almost all of its produce locally, grows selected herbs in its own garden and follows a sustainability-focused approach designed to reduce food waste. Its carefully crafted zero-proof drinks complement the dining experience.
