By a fixed monthly formula over the live directory: Google rating weighted by review depth (so a handful of perfect reviews cannot outrank hundreds of consistent ones), with real aggregated diner engagement on Halal Food Pass as a bounded tiebreaker once it has enough evidence. Review volume is credited only up to a few hundred reviews — beyond that, extra volume adds no advantage, so farming reviews cannot outrank genuinely higher-rated food. The exact weights are proprietary; the inputs are not.
Can a restaurant pay to be on this list?
No. Featured placement and Lime Card participation have zero influence on Best rankings, ever. The ranking code does not read either field.
