Stores say yes; the chain says nothing. Church's Texas Chicken Canada's website, read on 1 October 2026, contains no halal statement: not on the home page or Our Story, not on the menu index or any of its nine category pages, not on the locator, whose service tags run to Delivery, Drive-Thru, WiFi, 24 Hours, Mall, Kids Area and Accessibility and never Halal, and not in the terms, contact or order pages.

Outside the chain's own site the picture is different. The Uber Eats listings for 537 Parliament Street and 845 Jane Street in Toronto and 125 Sage Valley Common NW in Calgary carry a “Halal” category tag, and the Parliament Street listing describes the restaurant as offering “a variety of Halal-certified chicken dishes”; a Pickering restaurant sits in the platform's halal category.

Zabihah lists Church's as a chain with 41 halal locations in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, relaying a management line, “All our Ontario locations are halal,” on staff verbal assurance. In July 2024, trade press summarising National Post reporting named Church's among chains that already had halal offerings. None of these names a certifier, and no register lists a Church's.

These are franchisees', platforms' and directories' words, not the chain's. A delivery tag is set by the restaurant or the platform; a Zabihah entry rests on what staff told a visitor; the trade article attributes its list to a newspaper. They are consistent with one another and with diners' videos calling Brampton, Whitby and Edmonton restaurants halal, and a diner names Amir Quality Meats as the supplier of one store, which that supplier's own material does not confirm.

What is missing is any document: no certificate, no certifier, no supplier letter, no statement from Church's Texas Chicken Canada or its franchisees. Abroad, Texas Chicken Malaysia says every meal is halal certified under JAKIM-approved suppliers, which concerns Malaysia.

Suppliers and preparation can change. Confirm the current halal information with the specific restaurant before ordering.

What official sources establish

Church's Texas Chicken Canada has said nothing about halal that we could find. On 1 October 2026 we read canada.churchstexaschicken.com through a text reader: the home page, Our Story, the menu index and its nine category pages (Sandwiches, Wraps, Chicken Meals, Tenders, Family Meals, Sides, Desserts, Sauces, Drinks), the locator, the terms, the contact page and the order hub, which links DoorDash, Skip The Dishes, Uber Eats and Fantuan. The sitemap lists 19 URLs; the three we did not open are the promotional-code, party and privacy pages. The word halal appears on none of the pages read, and neither do zabiha, pork, bacon, supplier or certified.

Outside the chain's site, three kinds of third party call Church's halal. Delivery platforms: the Uber Eats listings for 537 Parliament Street and 845 Jane Street in Toronto and 125 Sage Valley Common NW in Calgary carry a Halal tag, the Parliament Street description reads “offers a variety of Halal-certified chicken dishes,” and the 334 Rossland Road East restaurant sits in the Pickering halal category.

Directories: Zabihah lists 41 locations with a management line relayed on staff assurance, wherehalal.com calls the brand halal certified without naming a certifier, and halalnearby.com lists a Mississauga restaurant with a verify-first disclaimer. Press: Food & Agribusiness, citing the National Post in July 2024, named Church's among chains with halal offerings. The Ontario “Our Quality Promise” article that the earlier version of this page cited is gone from the live site and never addressed halal.

The chain publishes no allergen, nutrition or ingredient document for Canada; none exists in the sitemap. The menu descriptions are the only product information: chicken “marinated for 12 hours, cooked, hand-breaded with our classic recipe,” tenders that are “100% chicken breast tenders,” sandwiches made with “a marinated all white meat chicken breast fillet.” No supplier, certifier or slaughter method is named.

The terms are headed in the name of Cajun Operating Company and are effective 17 January 2022; the footer and the contact page name Cajun Global LLC at a Winnipeg address. The chain's press releases of 2021 and 2022 describe franchise growth in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario and say nothing about halal.

No certifier lists a Church's restaurant. On 1 October 2026 the Halal Monitoring Authority's certified-restaurant register, 82 entries, and ISNA Halal's restaurant directory, 34 entries over four pages, were read in a rendered browser and name none; HMA's supplier list of 23 entries names none. Zabihah's remark that its score “reflects a halal certificate on file” is the directory's own scoring note and shows no certificate, certifier or date. Absence from a register is in any case not proof about the food; it means that the people saying Church's is halal are the restaurants and their visitors, not a certifier.

Locations and products

The locator enumerated 43 restaurants on 1 October 2026: Ontario 15 (Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville, Milton, Markham, Whitby, Kitchener and Waterloo), British Columbia 13, Alberta 12 and Saskatchewan 3, with none in Quebec, Manitoba or Atlantic Canada. Each entry carries an address and a row of service tags drawn from Delivery, Drive-Thru, WiFi, 24 Hours, Mall, Kids Area and Accessibility. No entry carries a Halal tag, and the site has no halal filter. The list loads dynamically and a first pass reported up to 47 entries, so treat 43 as at least 43; the Newmarket restaurant that appears on Uber Eats is not among them.

The menu is chicken: Sandwiches (5 items), Wraps (6), Chicken Meals (4), Tenders (2), Family Meals (5), Sides (10), Desserts (2), Sauces (5) and Drinks (9). No pork, bacon or ham item appears on any page. Sides include poutine with “fresh cheese curds” and brown gravy, Mac & Cheese Bites, Jalapeno Bombers with “creamy cheddar cheese” and Honey-Butter Biscuits; desserts are Apple Pie and Churro Bites; drinks are Coca-Cola products, Fuze, juice and Dasani water. Nothing on the site says any item is halal.

Halal claims about particular restaurants circulate outside the chain's site. An Uber Eats listing for Church's Texas Chicken at 16925 Yonge Street, Newmarket, displays “Halal” among its category tags; a TikTok post asserts that the Brampton restaurant is fully halal; zabihah.com carries a Toronto entry. Those are platform, franchisee or directory claims, not Church's word, and this page does not track them. If a restaurant near you advertises halal, ask it for its current certificate and the supplier named on it, and check the date.

Certification, ingredients and preparation

An unclear status does not mean the chicken is not halal. It records that Church's Texas Chicken Canada has made no statement, that the claims come from franchisees, platforms, directories and diners, and that no certifier lists it. Under this site's rules a chain's own written statement would be reported as the chain's word; a delivery tag or a manager's remark to a visitor is reported as what it is.

A menu without pork is not a halal statement. The chain's chicken is described by its marinade and breading, not by its supplier or slaughter method, and no document on the site says where the chicken comes from. Whether any restaurant's chicken is halal-slaughtered is a question only the restaurant and its supplier can answer, with a certificate you can read.

Preparation and minor ingredients are undisclosed. The gravy's base, the enzymes in the cheese curds, cheddar and Mac & Cheese Bites, and whether the biscuits and sides share fryers with the chicken are not addressed anywhere on the site, and there is no allergen or ingredient document to consult. Those are questions for the restaurant and for the standard of the certifier you trust.

A delivery-platform tag is not a certificate. The “Halal” category on the Newmarket Uber Eats listing is set by the restaurant or the platform; the chain's own locator carries no such tag on any restaurant, and the chain has not said whether franchisees may advertise halal or whether it checks such claims.

What Church's Chicken has not said, and what to check before ordering

Not said by Church's Texas Chicken Canada as of 1 October 2026: whether any Canadian restaurant serves halal chicken; which suppliers provide the chicken to its restaurants and whether any certifier's certificate covers it; whether franchisees are permitted to advertise halal, as the Newmarket Uber Eats listing does, and whether the chain audits those claims; what is in the gravy and the cheeses and whether sides share fryers; and which of the two corporate names on its site, Cajun Operating Company or Cajun Global LLC, answers for Canadian restaurants.

Before ordering, ask the restaurant directly whether its chicken is halal and which supplier and certifier stand behind it; ask to see the certificate and check its date and the address and product named on it. A general claim on a sign or a delivery app is the restaurant's, not the chain's.
