We read Popeyes Canada's sitemap and robots file, the Canadian nutrition guide PDF, and Restaurant Brands International's ingredients, sourcing and contact pages. We checked the registers of the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) Canada and Halal Montreal Certification Authority.
What we could not check
Every HTML page on popeyeschicken.ca returned unreadable data to us, so our finding rests on the sitemap rather than on reading the pages themselves. The Canadian allergen PDF returned an access error. A widely-circulated belief that Popeyes Canada is halal appears to trace to a 2007 newspaper article, which is both nineteen years old and not a Popeyes source, so we have not relied on it.
