Is it halal?
Is Harvey's halal in Canada?
Not certified
No halal certification nationally
Harvey's says its beef and chicken are not halal certified.
It answers the question directly on its own FAQ, in English and in French, and it points vegetarians to other menu items. Note the precise claim: Harvey's is telling you there is no halal certification, not describing how its suppliers slaughter.
Halal practice can differ between restaurants of the same chain, and suppliers change. Always confirm with the specific restaurant before you order.

What does this status mean?
- Halal at all Canadian locations
- The chain, or a named halal certifier, states this for Canada.
- Varies by location
- Halal at some Canadian restaurants and not confirmed at others.
- Halal items named, no certification published
- The chain names halal ingredients on its own site but claims no certification and names no certifier.
- No halal certification nationally
- The chain states explicitly that it has no halal certification in Canada. That is about certification, not about slaughter method.
- Unclear — no public statement
- Nobody has published an answer. The honest default, not a negative finding.

harveys.ca ↗ · retrieved 2026-08-04How we checked
We read Harvey's English and French FAQs, its nutrition page and its contact page, and Recipe Unlimited's corporate food responsibility page. We checked the registers of the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) Canada, the Canadian Halal Food Certifying Agency, ISNA Canada Halal Certification and the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of Canada. Harvey's appears on none of them, which is consistent with what Harvey's says itself.
What we could not check
Harvey's FAQ carries no date stamp, so we know it is current as published rather than current as reviewed. We re-read both language versions on 4 August 2026. Harvey's restaurant pages would not load for us, so we did not test whether any individual restaurant says something different.
Harvey's locations we have verified
Halal Food Pass verifies restaurants one at a time and lists only what we have checked.
None yet. Halal Food Pass has not verified and listed any Harvey's location. That is a statement about our directory, not about the chain, we list restaurants one at a time, after they confirm their own halal information to us.
If you run a Harvey's location and it serves halal food, tell us and we will verify it.
Where you can eat instead
Halal restaurants in our directory serving similar food, with live Lime Card deals where one is running. Every one of these confirmed its own halal information to us.

Not in Mississauga or Oakville?
Those are the two cities we cover properly today. We would rather say so than pad this page with restaurants we have not verified. Tell us where you are and we will let you know when we get there.
Common questions
Is Harvey's halal?
No, Harvey's says its beef and chicken are not halal certified. It answers the question directly on its own FAQ in both English and French.
Does that mean the meat is definitely not halal?
It means there is no halal certification. Harvey's is answering about certification, which is a paid third-party audit, and is not describing its suppliers' slaughter practices. We report what Harvey's says and no more than that.
Is anything at Harvey's suitable?
Harvey's French FAQ notes the menu includes some vegetarian products. Whether those meet your requirements is your call, we are not making it for you.

How we decide what to publish
We publish what a chain says about itself, what a named halal certifier says about it, or what a specific restaurant says — and we tell you which. We do not publish community consensus, other directories' listings, or our own impressions. When a chain has said nothing, we say so plainly rather than guessing, because guessing about this is worse than useless. Halal Food Pass reports halal information; it does not certify halal.
Where a chain says its food is not halal certified, that is what we print. Certification is a paid third-party audit, and its absence is not the same as a statement about how animals were slaughtered. We do not stretch one into the other.
