McDonald's Canada has said nothing about halal. On 15 September 2026 we read all 87 of its published FAQs and its sourcing and food-safety pages; none mentions halal, kosher or religious slaughter. No certifier lists a Canadian McDonald's. Statements from McDonald's in other countries do not describe the Canadian menu.

What this means before you order
Nobody has said. McDonald's Canada publishes 87 frequently asked questions on its website; on 15 September 2026 we read every one of them, along with its Our Food, sourcing and food-safety pages and its full menu, and none says a word about halal, kosher or religious slaughter. No Canadian certifier lists a McDonald's restaurant. McDonald's has answered the question in other countries, both ways, and none of those answers is about Canada. Until McDonald's Canada says something, the honest answer is that it has not.
What can be said: the Canadian menu carries beef, chicken, pork (bacon and sausage) and fish, and McDonald's Canada says it sources all of its beef from suppliers in Canada and describes its sourcing in welfare and quality terms, not religious ones. What cannot be said: that any Canadian McDonald's serves halal meat, or that it does not. Screenshots that circulate online saying “McDonald's Canada says they're not halal” turn out, when read, to be search-result snippets from other countries' McDonald's sites and third-party blogs, not a Canadian statement.
Suppliers and preparation can change. Confirm the current halal information with the specific restaurant before ordering.
What official sources establish
McDonald's Canada has not said anything about halal. Its website carries a Frequently Asked Questions page with 87 questions; on 15 September 2026 we read every question and answer through the page's own search data rather than the visible accordion, so nothing was left folded. They cover mobile ordering and payment, McDonald's Cards and gift cards, MyMcDonald's Rewards, Wi-Fi, careers, franchising, accessibility, restaurant counts and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Not one mentions halal, kosher, zabiha or religious dietary requirements.
The same day we read the Our Food page, the food quality and sourcing page, the food-safety page and the full menu. They describe beef, chicken, potato and produce sourcing in quality, safety and animal-welfare terms and say nothing about halal. The former “Our Food. Your Questions.” portal, where McDonald's Canada once answered customer questions individually, is no longer online, and the site's search returns an error page for the term halal.
No Canadian certifier lists a McDonald's. On 15 September 2026 the Halal Monitoring Authority's certified-restaurant register, CHEC's certified-restaurant list and the entries ISNA Halal's directory displayed named none.
We would report a statement either way. If McDonald's Canada said its food is halal, we would take the chain at its word; if it said it is not, we would report that. It has said neither, so this page says so.
Locations and products
No Canadian location and no Canadian product is described as halal by McDonald's. The Canadian menu includes beef, chicken, fish and pork items (bacon and sausage across the breakfast menu, bacon on several burgers and wraps, and a pulled-pork sandwich on the menu read on 15 September 2026), and McDonald's Canada does not publish per-restaurant sourcing.
McDonald's Canada's FAQ answers “How many McDonald's are there in Canada?” and “How many countries does McDonald's operate in?”; it does not answer which, if any, serve halal meat.
Certification, ingredients and preparation
“100% of its beef from beef suppliers in Canada” and animals raised and slaughtered “free of cruelty, abuse and neglect” are origin and welfare claims, not halal claims; McDonald's Canada makes those and no religious one.
A statement by McDonald's in one country is not a statement about another. McDonald's UK says it does not offer halal food; McDonald's in Bahrain and other Gulf markets say their menus comply with halal requirements. Each describes that market's suppliers. None describes Canada's, and the screenshots that circulate as “McDonald's Canada says” are, on inspection, search snippets from those other sites.
Silence is not a denial. That McDonald's Canada has not said its food is halal does not establish that it is not; that no certifier lists it does not establish what its suppliers do. It establishes only that there is nothing to rely on.
What McDonald's has not said, and what to check before ordering
Not said by McDonald's Canada as of 15 September 2026: whether any of its beef or chicken is halal-slaughtered; who its suppliers' certifiers are, if any; whether any Canadian restaurant serves halal meat; and any answer to the question at all, on its FAQ or elsewhere.
Before ordering, assume nothing. Ask the restaurant, and if the answer is yes, ask which supplier and which certificate. Halal Food Pass lists certified and self-described halal burger restaurants near every McDonald's in its directory.

Is McDonald's halal in Canada?
Nobody has said. McDonald's Canada has published nothing on halal: all 87 of its FAQs, read on 15 September 2026, and its sourcing, food-safety and menu pages are silent. No Canadian certifier lists a McDonald's. Statements by McDonald's in the UK or the Gulf are about those countries, not Canada.
Did McDonald's Canada say its food is not halal?
Not anywhere we could find. A widely shared 2023 post titled “McDonald's Canada says they're not halal” shows a Google results page with a snippet from McDonald's Bahrain and a vegan blog about the fries; neither is a McDonald's Canada statement. The chain has said neither yes nor no.
Is McDonald's chicken halal in Canada?
McDonald's Canada does not say. Its sourcing page describes chicken in welfare and quality terms only, it names no halal supplier, and no certifier lists a Canadian McDonald's.
Does McDonald's Canada serve pork?
Yes. Bacon and sausage run through its Canadian breakfast menu, bacon appears on several burgers and wraps, and the full menu read on 15 September 2026 listed a pulled-pork sandwich. That does not settle the halal question for other items, but it does mean the kitchens handle pork.
McDonald's is halal in some countries. Does that apply here?
No. McDonald's in Bahrain and other Gulf markets describes its menus as halal, and McDonald's UK explains why it does not serve halal food. Each statement is about that country's suppliers. McDonald's Canada has made no such statement.

On 15 September 2026 we read McDonald's Canada's FAQ page in the desktop browser and, through the page's own search data, all 87 questions and answers in full; the visible accordion shows only a filtered subset. We read the Our Food, food quality and sourcing, food-safety and full-menu pages, and tried the site's search for halal, which returned an error page.
We read McDonald's UK's halal FAQ. We opened the 8 February 2023 X post titled "McDonald's Canada says they're not halal" and read its image: a Google results page showing a McDonald's Bahrain snippet and a vegan blog, not a Canadian statement; it is not cited. We read the Halal Monitoring Authority's certified-restaurant register, CHEC's certified-restaurant list and the entries ISNA Halal's directory displayed; McDonald's appears on none.
We searched for any McDonald's Canada halal statement from 2025 or 2026 and found none.
What we could not check: McDonald's Canada has said nothing; the finding is an absence, read in full this time. The former customer-questions portal is offline, so any answer it once gave cannot be read. We have not called any restaurant.

How to read our halal labels
We report what a chain, a named certifier or a specific restaurant says, with the scope of that statement. Halal Food Pass does not certify halal.
A statement about chicken does not automatically cover the whole menu. A supplier certificate does not establish restaurant certification. A lack of published certification does not tell us how animals were slaughtered.
When a chain states publicly that its food is halal, we report that statement as the chain's own word, with its date, its scope and the certifier it names, and we treat it as standing until the chain withdraws it or evidence contradicts it. A claim that rests on unnamed phone calls or an anonymous post is reported as a claim, not as a finding.
