Is it halal? Canada
Is Pizza Hut halal in Canada?
Unclear, no public statement
Pizza Hut Canada has published no halal statement. Its whole site, read on 16 September 2026 and re-checked on 1 October, including the ingredient listing, allergen list and 626-restaurant locator, never uses the word; its pepperoni is pork and/or beef, and its Scarborough delivery menu lists bacon crumble and ham with no halal tag. No certifier lists a Pizza Hut.
What the evidence supports
| Question | Supported finding | Scope | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| What has Pizza Hut Canada said? | Nothing. On 16 September 2026 we read the rendered site in full, and on 1 October 2026 we re-opened its ingredient listing, allergen list and locator and found the same documents: home, menu and every product page, nutrition, allergens, ingredient listing, gluten-free FAQ, franchise, terms and the full restaurant locator. The word halal does not appear anywhere, including in the site's JavaScript. There is no FAQ page in the sitemap; Contact Us opens an external survey form. On 1 October 2026 no post or reply on halal by @PizzaHutCanada was indexed by search engines, and searches of CBC, the Toronto Star, Global, CTV, La Presse and the Journal de Montreal returned no story about Pizza Hut and halal in Canada. | Canada, website | Pizza Hut Canada, restaurant locator and site pages, retrieved 2026-10-01 |
| What is the pepperoni made of? | “Pork and/or Beef, Water, Soy protein concentrate, Salt, Spices (with Mustard), Sugars (dextrose), Granulated garlic, Sodium erythorbate, Bacterial culture, Sodium nitrite.” Italian Sausage is likewise “Pork And/Or Beef.” Beef Topping is beef; Pork Topping is pork with beef broth powder in its seasoning. | Canada, national ingredient listing, August 2025 | Pizza Hut Canada, ingredient listing, retrieved 2026-10-01 |
| Which toppings are pork? | Pork Topping, Julienne Ham, Bacon Crumble, Bacon Strips and Smokey Maple Bacon are pork; Pepperoni and Italian Sausage are pork and/or beef; Beef Topping, Grilled Chicken Strips and Meatball are the other meats listed. The allergen list is current as of June 2026 and covers thirteen allergens; it does not cover pork or halal. It states that variations may occur due to differences in suppliers, ingredient substitutions, recipe revisions and preparation at the restaurant. | Canada, national allergen list, June 2026 | Pizza Hut Canada, allergen list, retrieved 2026-10-01 |
| Is any Pizza Hut restaurant certified? | No. The Halal Monitoring Authority's certified-restaurant register, CHEC's certified-restaurant list and the entries ISNA Halal's directory displayed, all read on 16 September 2026, name no Pizza Hut; the HMA register (82 entries) and ISNA Halal's listings (34 entries), re-read in a rendered browser on 1 October 2026, still name none. Zabihah lists no Canadian Pizza Hut. | Canada | HMA, CHEC and ISNA Halal registers, retrieved 2026-10-01 |
| How many restaurants, and does any page differ? | 626 restaurants listed in the locator on 1 October 2026 (624 on 16 September 2026, when every restaurant page was read): Ontario 275, Alberta 101, British Columbia 97, Quebec 79, Saskatchewan 26, Manitoba 20, Nova Scotia 11, New Brunswick 9, Prince Edward Island 4, Newfoundland and Labrador 2, Northwest Territories 1, Yukon 1. Restaurant pages carry address, phone and hours only; none carries a halal note or a service tag of any kind, and the word halal appears nowhere on the locator. | Canada, 626 restaurants | Pizza Hut Canada, restaurant locator, retrieved 2026-10-01 |
| What do Canadian delivery menus show? | Pork toppings and no halal tag. The Uber Eats listing for the Scarborough store at 2900 Eglinton Ave East, Unit 6, tagged “Pizza, Pasta, Wings,” describes the 6" Personal Canadian as “Pepperoni, bacon crumble, sliced mushrooms and pizza mozz” and the Personal Hawaiian as “Ham, pineapple and pizza mozzarella”; the word halal does not appear. Uber Eats' brand page for Pizza Hut in Montreal lists 27 addresses, and the only halal text on it is the platform's own navigation link to halal delivery, not a tag on any store. An absent tag is the platform's copy of the store menu, not a statement by the chain. | Canada, delivery platform copy | Uber Eats (Scarborough and Montreal), retrieved 2026-10-01 |
| What has Pizza Hut said in other countries? | Different things, none about Canada. Pizza Hut UK, in a reply indexed from X dated 8 April 2015: “None of the food served at Pizza Hut in the UK and Ireland is halal certified.” Pizza Hut India, in replies of December 2014 and June 2018: “all chicken used for making Pizza Hut topping is procured from Halal certified supplier” and “All our meat products are sourced from halal certified vendors.” In France, the trade site Casa Pizza reported on 21 January 2026 that Pizza Hut had begun serving halal in 13 restaurants without the chain holding a halal certification, and L'Express Franchise reported on 27 August 2026 a fully halal Pizza Hut concept in Marseille. | Who owns Pizza Hut, and does the parent say anything? | Yum! Brands announced on 16 June 2026 agreements to sell Pizza Hut for 2.7 billion US dollars: the business outside mainland China to LongRange Capital and the mainland China business to Yum China, with closing expected in the third quarter of 2026. Canada is not named separately, and the release says nothing about halal, sourcing or suppliers. Pizza Hut's supplier code of conduct, which applies to “Yum's U.S. suppliers,” does not mention halal, kosher or religious slaughter (not Canada). | Global parent (includes Canada) | Yum! What this means before you order
Nobody has said. Pizza Hut Canada's website, read rendered in full on 16 September 2026, contains no halal statement: not on the menu pages, not in the ingredient listing of August 2025, not in the allergen list of June 2026, not on any of the restaurant pages in its locator (626 restaurants on 1 October 2026), and not in the code that builds the site; its ingredient listing, allergen list and locator, re-opened on 1 October 2026, are the same documents.
Its Canadian social accounts have no indexed post or reply on halal, no Canadian news outlet has reported one, and its delivery listings carry no halal tag: the Uber Eats menu of the Scarborough store at 2900 Eglinton Ave East names “bacon crumble” and “Ham, pineapple” toppings, and Uber Eats' Montreal brand page lists 27 Pizza Hut stores without one.
No Canadian certifier lists a Pizza Hut restaurant. The brand has spoken on halal elsewhere, and said different things in different countries: none of it is about Canada.
What the chain's own documents do say matters for a halal diet. The ingredient listing describes Pepperoni as “Pork and/or Beef” and Italian Sausage as “Pork And/Or Beef,” so the same topping name can be either meat depending on supply. The menu carries a Pork Topping, Julienne Ham, three bacon products and a Beef Topping; the allergen list notes that variations occur with suppliers, substitutions and preparation at the restaurant.
Nothing on the site describes the beef or chicken as halal, names a slaughter method or a certifier. Pizza Hut's Canadian sitemap has no FAQ page, and the Contact Us link opens a survey form. The chain's parent is changing: Yum! Brands announced on 16 June 2026 that it had agreed to sell Pizza Hut outside mainland China to LongRange Capital, with closing expected in the third quarter of 2026; the release says nothing about halal or sourcing, and any future statement for Canada may come from the new owner.
If a Pizza Hut near you advertises halal, that is the franchisee's claim; ask for the certificate and the supplier, and check the date.
Suppliers and preparation can change. Confirm the current halal information with the specific restaurant before ordering.
What official sources establish
Pizza Hut Canada has said nothing about halal that we could find. On 16 September 2026 we read pizzahut.ca as a customer sees it, in a rendered browser: the home page, the menu and every one of its product pages, the nutrition, allergen and ingredient pages with the documents they open, the gluten-free FAQ, the franchise and policy pages, and the restaurant locator with all 624 entries. The word halal does not appear on any of them, and it does not appear in the code that builds the site. The site has no general FAQ page; its Contact Us link opens a survey form on another host.
The same silence runs through everything else the chain publishes for Canada. On 1 October 2026 no post or reply on halal by @PizzaHutCanada was indexed by search engines (its indexed replies are service apologies), and searches of CBC, the Toronto Star, Global, CTV, La Presse and the Journal de Montreal returned no story about Pizza Hut and halal in Canada.
The parent is changing hands: Yum! Brands announced on 16 June 2026 that it had agreed to sell Pizza Hut outside mainland China to LongRange Capital, with closing expected in the third quarter of 2026; the release does not name Canada separately and says nothing about halal, sourcing or suppliers, and Pizza Hut's supplier code of conduct, written for “Yum's U.S. suppliers,” does not mention halal or religious slaughter (not Canada).
The chain's own ingredient listing, dated August 2025 and linked from the live site, is the most useful document for a halal diet. It describes Pepperoni as “Pork and/or Beef” and Italian Sausage as “Pork And/Or Beef,” which means the same topping can be either meat depending on supply. Pork Topping is pork; Beef Topping is beef; Julienne Ham and the three bacon products are pork.
Nothing describes any meat as halal, and no supplier, certifier or slaughter method is named. The allergen list, current as of June 2026, covers thirteen allergens and says that variations may occur due to differences in suppliers, ingredient substitutions, recipe revisions and preparation at the restaurant.
No certifier lists a Pizza Hut restaurant. On 16 September 2026 the Halal Monitoring Authority's certified-restaurant register, CHEC's certified-restaurant list and the entries ISNA Halal's directory displayed named none, and the HMA register (82 entries) and ISNA Halal's listings (34 entries), re-read in a rendered browser on 1 October 2026, still name none. Zabihah lists no Canadian Pizza Hut; its only Pizza Hut entry is in Sri Lanka.
Locations and products
The locator listed 626 restaurants on 1 October 2026 and 624 on 16 September 2026, when every restaurant page was read: Ontario 275, Alberta 101, British Columbia 97, Quebec 79, Saskatchewan 26, Manitoba 20, Nova Scotia 11, New Brunswick 9, Prince Edward Island 4, Newfoundland and Labrador 2, and one each in the Northwest Territories and Yukon. Every restaurant page carries the same fields: address, phone and hours. None carries a halal note, and the locator has no halal filter or tag of the kind some chains publish.
Pizza Hut Canada's menu is pizzas, melts, wings and boneless bites, pastas, sides, dips, desserts and drinks. The meat toppings on the national ingredient listing are Pepperoni and Cup n Crisp Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Beef Topping, Pork Topping, Julienne Ham, Bacon Crumble, Bacon Strips, Smokey Maple Bacon, Grilled Chicken Strips and Meatball. Nothing on the site says any of them is halal.
The delivery menus match the national documents. The Uber Eats listing for the Scarborough store at 2900 Eglinton Ave East describes its Personal Canadian pizza as “Pepperoni, bacon crumble, sliced mushrooms and pizza mozz” and its Personal Hawaiian as “Ham, pineapple and pizza mozzarella,” and never uses the word halal; Uber Eats' Montreal brand page lists 27 Pizza Hut stores with no halal tag on any.
On TripAdvisor's page for the Mississauga store at 848 Burnhamthorpe Rd W a traveller asked “Serve halal?” and the two answers were a description of another restaurant's Afghan menu and “Sorry, I don't know,” which is to say that nobody who knew answered. If a Pizza Hut near you advertises halal on its own sign or delivery listing, that is the franchisee's claim, not the chain's, and this page does not track it.
Ask that restaurant for its current certificate and the supplier it names.
Certification, ingredients and preparation
An unclear status does not mean the food is not halal. It records that Pizza Hut Canada has made no statement and that no certifier lists it, after its site, its delivery listings, its social accounts as indexed and the Canadian press have been read.
“Pork and/or beef” is a supply statement, not a halal one. Even where a pepperoni batch is beef, the ingredient listing does not say the beef is halal-slaughtered, and the same product name covers pork batches. The national listing cannot tell you which is on your pizza; only the restaurant can, and it may not know.
Preparation matters as much as ingredients. Pork Topping, ham and bacon are prepared on the same lines as every other topping, and no Pizza Hut Canada document describes any separation of ingredients or equipment. A certified restaurant, in the words of HMA's Imam Omar Subedar to CBC Marketplace in 2024, is one where every ingredient is checked and no pork or alcohol is on the premises; no Pizza Hut in Canada meets that description on any published evidence.
Removing meat does not answer the question. A cheese or vegetable pizza still raises the questions of enzymes in the cheese, which the ingredient listing describes as microbial for most cheeses, and of shared preparation. Those are questions for the restaurant and for the standard of the certifier you trust. Nor does a statement from another country answer it: Pizza Hut UK wrote in 2015 that none of its UK and Ireland food was halal certified, Pizza Hut India says its meat comes from halal-certified vendors, and Pizza Hut France began serving halal in 13 restaurants in January 2026 without a chain certification; each is that operator's word for that country (not Canada), and together they show that the brand's answer is set country by country, which is why only a Canadian statement would count here.
What Pizza Hut has not said, and what to check before ordering
Not said by Pizza Hut Canada as of 1 October 2026: whether any Canadian restaurant serves halal meat; whether the beef in its beef topping or the pepperoni's beef batches come from halal-slaughtered supply; who supplies its meats; whether any franchisee is permitted to advertise halal and on what basis; and any of this anywhere on pizzahut.ca.
Before ordering, ask the restaurant directly whether its meats are halal and which supplier and certifier stand behind them; ask to see the certificate and check its date and the supplier named on it. Remember that the pepperoni may be pork or beef on any given day, and that pork toppings are prepared in the same kitchen.
Pizza Hut halal FAQs
Is Pizza Hut halal in Canada?
Pizza Hut Canada has not said. On 16 September 2026 we read its whole site, including the ingredient listing, the allergen list and every restaurant page (626 restaurants on 1 October 2026), and the word halal appears nowhere; its Canadian social accounts and the Canadian press are silent, and its Scarborough delivery menu lists bacon crumble and ham with no halal tag. No certifier lists a Pizza Hut. This is an absence of any statement, not a statement that the food is not halal.
Is Pizza Hut pepperoni halal?
No statement says so, and the chain's own ingredient listing describes Pepperoni as "Pork and/or Beef." The same topping can be pork or beef depending on supply, and even a beef batch is not described as halal-slaughtered. Italian Sausage is listed the same way.
Which Pizza Hut toppings contain pork?
Per the national ingredient listing and allergen list: Pork Topping, Julienne Ham, Bacon Crumble, Bacon Strips and Smokey Maple Bacon are pork; Pepperoni, Cup n Crisp Pepperoni and Italian Sausage are pork and/or beef. Beef Topping, Grilled Chicken Strips and Meatball are the other meats; none is described as halal.
Are any Canadian Pizza Hut locations halal?
The chain says nothing about any of its 626 locations; their pages carry address, phone and hours only, and no Canadian Pizza Hut delivery listing we read carries a halal tag. On TripAdvisor a traveller asked the Mississauga store at 848 Burnhamthorpe Rd W "Serve halal?" and no one who knew answered. If a particular restaurant advertises halal on its own sign or delivery listing, that is the franchisee's claim, not the chain's; ask that restaurant for its current certificate and the supplier it names, and check the date.
Does removing meat make a Pizza Hut order halal?
It removes the pork and the pork-or-beef toppings, not the questions. The cheeses use microbial enzymes according to the ingredient listing, and every topping is prepared in the same kitchen as pork. Whether that meets your standard is a question for the restaurant and for the certifier you trust.
Does Pizza Hut say something different in other countries?
Yes, and none of it applies in Canada. Pizza Hut UK wrote on X in April 2015 that "None of the food served at Pizza Hut in the UK and Ireland is halal certified." Pizza Hut India wrote in 2014 and 2018 that its chicken and meat come from halal-certified suppliers. In France the trade press reported in January 2026 that Pizza Hut had begun serving halal in 13 restaurants, without a chain certification, and in August 2026 a fully halal concept in Marseille. Each is that country's operator speaking for that country (not Canada).
When was this page last checked?
On 16 September 2026 we read pizzahut.ca in full as rendered, the ingredient listing of August 2025, the allergen list of June 2026 and the HMA, CHEC and ISNA Halal registers. On 1 October 2026 we re-read the HMA and ISNA Halal registers, read the Scarborough Uber Eats menu and the Montreal brand page, the TripAdvisor pages for Montreal and Mississauga, Yum! Brands' sale release of 16 June 2026, the US supplier code of conduct and the UK, India and France material, and searched the Canadian press and the chain's Canadian accounts. Next review is due on 31 October 2026, or sooner if Pizza Hut Canada publishes anything.

Both read on 1 October 2026. A statement about France.
lexpress-franchise.com ↗ · retrieved 2026-10-01How we checked Pizza Hut
On 16 September 2026 we read pizzahut.ca in a rendered browser, and on 1 October 2026 we re-opened its ingredient listing (As of August 2025), its allergen list (June 2026) and its locator, now 626 restaurants, and found the same documents. On 16 September we read: the home page, the menu and every product page in its sitemap, the nutrition, allergens and ingredients pages and the two documents they open (the ingredient listing of August 2025 and the allergen list of June 2026), the gluten-free FAQ, franchise, terms and policy pages, the restaurant locator with all 624 entries and sample restaurant pages.
We fetched every non-restaurant URL in the site's 774-URL sitemap and the site's five script bundles and searched them for halal, kosher, zabiha and religious wording. (On 7 September 2026 the allergen, nutrition and restaurant pages had returned server errors, a failed read on our side that the 16 September read replaced.) We read the Halal Monitoring Authority's certified-restaurant register, CHEC's certified-restaurant list and the entries ISNA Halal's directory displayed, and re-read the HMA and ISNA Halal registers in a rendered browser on 1 October 2026; Pizza Hut appears on none.
On 1 October 2026 we also read the Scarborough Uber Eats listing and Uber Eats' Montreal brand page, TripAdvisor's pages for the Montreal (4689 Jean-Talon E.) and Mississauga (848 Burnhamthorpe Rd W) stores with the Mississauga question thread, Yum! Brands' release of 16 June 2026, Pizza Hut's US supplier code of conduct, the Casa Pizza and L'Express Franchise reports on France, and the UK and India replies as indexed by search engines; we searched the Canadian press and the chain's Canadian X, Facebook, TikTok and Threads accounts as indexed, and Zabihah, which lists no Canadian Pizza Hut.
CBC Marketplace's 2024 fast-food investigation did not include Pizza Hut; it is cited on this page only for HMA's description of a certified restaurant.
What we could not check: Pizza Hut Canada has published nothing on halal; the ingredient and allergen documents are the chain's national listings and warn that ingredients vary with suppliers and preparation. The province counts on this page are from the locator on 1 October 2026; the per-page reads are from 16 September 2026. The UK and India replies are quoted from search-engine snippets because the originals sit behind X's login wall. The sale to LongRange Capital was announced, not reported closed, when this page was written. Franchisee claims are not tracked here. We have not called any restaurant and have seen no certificate ourselves.

How to read our halal labels
We report what a chain, a named certifier or a specific restaurant says, with the scope of that statement. Halal Food Pass does not certify halal.
A statement about chicken does not automatically cover the whole menu. A supplier certificate does not establish restaurant certification. A lack of published certification does not tell us how animals were slaughtered.
When a chain states publicly that its food is halal, we report that statement as the chain's own word, with its date, its scope and the certifier it names, and we treat it as standing until the chain withdraws it or evidence contradicts it. A claim that rests on unnamed phone calls or an anonymous post is reported as a claim, not as a finding.
Read our halal information policy or learn how to check a restaurant’s halal information.
