Is it halal?
Is Pizza Pizza halal in Canada?
Partly
Halal items named, no certification published
Pizza Pizza names three halal ingredients on its own website — Halal Grilled Chicken, Halal Pepperoni and Halal Beef Crumble — and its FAQ confirms it runs two pepperoni lines, one of which is halal.
It claims no halal certification anywhere and names no certifier, and the same ingredient pages list pork products including bacon and Italian ham. So halal ingredients are used; certification is not published.
Halal practice can differ between restaurants of the same chain, and suppliers change. Always confirm with the specific restaurant before you order.

What does this status mean?
- Halal at all Canadian locations
- The chain, or a named halal certifier, states this for Canada.
- Varies by location
- Halal at some Canadian restaurants and not confirmed at others.
- Halal items named, no certification published
- The chain names halal ingredients on its own site but claims no certification and names no certifier.
- No halal certification nationally
- The chain states explicitly that it has no halal certification in Canada. That is about certification, not about slaughter method.
- Unclear — no public statement
- Nobody has published an answer. The honest default, not a negative finding.

pizzapizza.ca ↗ · retrieved 2026-08-04How we checked
We read Pizza Pizza's menu FAQ, product and ingredient listings, allergy information, nutrition pages, school lunch programme page and corporate catering page. We checked the registers of the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) Canada. Pizza 73, which shares a parent company, was deliberately excluded.
What we could not check
Pizza Pizza dates the ingredient information itself to 1 November 2023, which is more than two years old, and warns that items may change without notice. Supply contracts change, so this needs confirming before you rely on it. The ISNA Canada certifier register would not open for us. We have asked Pizza Pizza whether the three named halal products are certified and by whom.
We have drafted a written enquiry to Pizza Pizza asking whether any Canadian menu items are halal-certified, whether that is consistent nationally, and which certifier is involved. When they answer, their answer replaces this section and the date changes.
Pizza Pizza locations we have verified
Halal Food Pass verifies restaurants one at a time and lists only what we have checked.
- Pizza Pizza Erb Street Waterloo — Waterloo
- Pizza Pizza Oakville — Oakville
Each of these confirmed its own halal information to Halal Food Pass. Re-checked automatically about once a week.
Where you can eat instead
Halal restaurants in our directory serving similar food, with live Lime Card deals where one is running. Every one of these confirmed its own halal information to us.
Not in Mississauga or Oakville?
Those are the two cities we cover properly today. We would rather say so than pad this page with restaurants we have not verified. Tell us where you are and we will let you know when we get there.
Common questions
Is Pizza Pizza halal?
Pizza Pizza uses halal ingredients and says so on its own site, it names Halal Grilled Chicken, Halal Pepperoni and Halal Beef Crumble, and its FAQ confirms a halal pepperoni line. It does not claim halal certification and names no certifier.
Does that make the whole restaurant halal?
No, and Pizza Pizza does not say it does. The same ingredient list includes pork products such as bacon and Italian ham, prepared in the same kitchens.
Who certifies the halal pepperoni?
Pizza Pizza does not say. We have asked.
How current is this?
Pizza Pizza dates its ingredient information to 1 November 2023. We re-checked the page on 4 August 2026 and the halal products were still listed, but the underlying data is over two years old.

How we decide what to publish
We publish what a chain says about itself, what a named halal certifier says about it, or what a specific restaurant says — and we tell you which. We do not publish community consensus, other directories' listings, or our own impressions. When a chain has said nothing, we say so plainly rather than guessing, because guessing about this is worse than useless. Halal Food Pass reports halal information; it does not certify halal.
Where a chain says its food is not halal certified, that is what we print. Certification is a paid third-party audit, and its absence is not the same as a statement about how animals were slaughtered. We do not stretch one into the other.
