Is it halal?
Is Subway halal in Canada?
Nobody has said
Unclear, no public statement
Subway Canada has not published a halal position.
We read Subway's own Canadian restaurant directory for Mississauga and Oakville on 4 August 2026 — roughly sixty and sixteen restaurants respectively — and none of them carries a halal marking, on pages that do list features like delivery, catering and breakfast.
Halal practice can differ between restaurants of the same chain, and suppliers change. Always confirm with the specific restaurant before you order.

What does this status mean?
- Halal at all Canadian locations
- The chain, or a named halal certifier, states this for Canada.
- Varies by location
- Halal at some Canadian restaurants and not confirmed at others.
- Halal items named, no certification published
- The chain names halal ingredients on its own site but claims no certification and names no certifier.
- No halal certification nationally
- The chain states explicitly that it has no halal certification in Canada. That is about certification, not about slaughter method.
- Unclear — no public statement
- Nobody has published an answer. The honest default, not a negative finding.

We read Subway Canada's about and nutrition pages, its Canadian franchising site, and its own restaurant directories for Mississauga and Oakville, including individual restaurant pages. We checked the register of the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) Canada.
What we could not check
Subway Canada's ingredient guide, allergen chart and nutrition tables, and its official Canadian FAQ and contact portal, were all closed to our tools. The FAQ portal is the most likely home of a halal answer and we could not read it. We also could not verify Subway's halal history in the United Kingdom from a Subway source, so we have not described it here — you may have read about it, but we are not repeating what we cannot show you.
We have drafted a written enquiry to Subway Canada asking whether any Canadian menu items are halal-certified, whether that is consistent nationally, and which certifier is involved. When they answer, their answer replaces this section and the date changes.
Subway locations we have verified
Halal Food Pass verifies restaurants one at a time and lists only what we have checked.
- Subway — Mississauga
Each of these confirmed its own halal information to Halal Food Pass. Re-checked automatically about once a week.
Where you can eat instead
Halal restaurants in our directory serving similar food, with live Lime Card deals where one is running. Every one of these confirmed its own halal information to us.
Not in Mississauga or Oakville?
Those are the two cities we cover properly today. We would rather say so than pad this page with restaurants we have not verified. Tell us where you are and we will let you know when we get there.
Common questions
Is Subway halal in Canada?
Subway Canada has not published a position, and no Canadian Subway restaurant we checked advertises halal.
Are any Subway restaurants in Mississauga or Oakville halal?
None of the roughly seventy-six restaurants listed in Subway's own directory for those two cities shows a halal marking. Subway is heavily franchised, so an individual owner could differ, if you know of one, tell us.

How we decide what to publish
We publish what a chain says about itself, what a named halal certifier says about it, or what a specific restaurant says — and we tell you which. We do not publish community consensus, other directories' listings, or our own impressions. When a chain has said nothing, we say so plainly rather than guessing, because guessing about this is worse than useless. Halal Food Pass reports halal information; it does not certify halal.
Where a chain says its food is not halal certified, that is what we print. Certification is a paid third-party audit, and its absence is not the same as a statement about how animals were slaughtered. We do not stretch one into the other.
