Watan Kabob on Matheson Boulevard East is one of the GTA's longest-running Afghan halal kabob houses, a busy self-service restaurant near Hurontario Street with a spacious dining room, a small prayer room, a patio and plenty of plaza parking. Orders are placed and collected at the counter. The grill specialises in chicken tikka, beef kofta, chopan lamb chops, the mixed Waziri platter and tandoori fish, served with qabili palaw or seasoned rice, salad, house sauces and warm naan. Lamb shank is a regular favourite, and desserts include sheer yakh Afghan ice cream and firni.
